On August 28, the Unified two-dimensional Code Registration Management Center (UTC) held a technical seminar with the China-Arab Technical and Cultural Transfer Center. Zhang Chao, head of UTC, Xing Jiguo, director of China-Arab Technical and Cultural Transfer Center, and Du Zhihui, deputy director of Zhongguancun Industry &Information Research Institute of two-dimensional Code Technology, attended this meeting. They have conducted in-depth discussions on how to promote the development of digital economy along the “Belt and Road” countries using two-dimensional code information security technology, unified two-dimensional code standards, to realized interoperability between different countries, and finally reached a broad consensus at this meeting.

Today, infrastructure construction is a prerequisite for economic globalization and free trade. The construction of national infrastructure along the belt and road countries provides the possibility for countries to achieve interconnection. As a global code issuer, the mission of UTC is to establish of a unified, standardized, orderly and interconnected global two-dimensional code system, to promote the interoperability of global trade and the development of the global Internet of Things industry. At present, UTC has been highly praised from the international community.

With the globalization and innovation of two-dimensional code application, the scientific two-dimensional code identification system and advanced two-dimensional code security technology play an important role in global trade facilitation, industrial value chain reshaping and digital economy development. IDcode encoding system maintained and managed by UTC is known for its scientific coding structure, extensive application and interoperability, and has become an integral part of the ISO/IEC 15459 series of international standards.

Director Xing Jiguo pointed out that the China-Arab Technical and Cultural Transfer Center aims to promote bilateral scientific and technological exchanges between China and the Arab countries and strengthen international scientific and technological exchanges and economic cooperation. At present, there are many technology transfer projects in developing countries, especially in the Arab countries. Regular research reports on relevant projects are provided to Arab embassies in China, relevant government departments of Arab countries, and chambers of commerce.

The development of the Arabic two-dimensional code industry is in its infancy, with great development potential and opportunities. The introduction of two-dimensional code standards, information security technologies and extensive applications based on the IDcode system will promote the development of the digital economy and international free trade in Arab countries.

At the meeting, the two sides reached a consensus on strategic cooperation. UTC and the China-Arab Technical and Cultural Transfer Center will play their respective advantages and jointly carry out standards formulation, technical services, training, and industrial application promotion for this cooperation.
They plan to launch a joint initiative to cooperate with government agencies, industry associations, enterprises, research institutions and other sectors in China, the Arab countries and other countries in the world to seize the opportunities and jointly promote the establishment of a unified two-dimensional code identification system to facilitate sustainable development of the world.
